1.For rotary evaporator
heating bath (water bath & oil bath are optional), which is better to use distilled water or regular tap water? Generally speaking, we suggest to use distilled water, which could minimized the scale build up in water bath which coats the thermistor and heating coils, finally make evaporation more efficient.2.How to remove the algae gunk in rotary evaporator’s
condenser? TOPTION engineers suggest to use nitric acid, of course you need to removed the condenser from rotavapor firstly, and then soak the condenser coil in a dilute nitric acid solution for a few hours, finally rinsing condenser’s inside carefully. Please pay attention that: during using nitric acid, please follow all standard safety precautions.3.Ground glass joint is suggested for rotary evaporator
flask holding, this is very convenient as the ground glass joint is no need to be greased, and you also don’t need to worry the joint is easy frozen.4.For rotary evaporator
vacuum system, we suggest to use mechanical pump, which could prevent the solvent destroys the membrane or is absorbed in the oil.5.If conditions allowing, we suggest to use fume hood, which could avoid damaging the vacuum pump and releasing the toxic volatiles into the lab atmosphere. This will guarantee operators safe.
